The Beginning of
Research
on Probiotics
for Oral Health,
Which Was Conducted
by Prof. Jong-Suk Oh

When Dr. Oh was studying cancer at the UCLA School of Dentistry,
his own oral health, which never seemed to be improving despite
his everyday efforts to improve it, was the biggest worry to him.
An old approach to oral care was insufficient to eliminate the problems completely.
Dr. Jong-Suk Oh, therefore, sought new solutions to the problems.
He got the idea when he was conducting a study on the microbiome
and finally found causes of the problems as well as solutions.

2004. Successfully Isolated 4 Probiotic Strains:
CMU, CMS1, CMS2, CMS3

Oral Probiotics
Found in
the Healthy Mouths of Korean Children.

Of the 1,640 strains derived from the saliva of children with healthy oral cavity, OraPharm isolated 4 strains (oraCMU®, oraCMS1®, oraCMS2®, oraCMS3®) that have excellent functions in safety, oral colonization, and control of harmful bacteria. Subsequently, we have developed a product containing 2 probiotic strains. It is recorded as the first oral care probiotics in Korea.
