OraPharm Inc., the leading company in oral probiotics, sells Green Breath, the product which contains oral probiotics and gets rid of bacteria that cause bad breath.

The proliferation of harmful bacteria in the mouth is the main cause for bad breath. Harmful bacteria are considered as the main causes because they react with the food debris, mucous membrane, and such and produce volatile sulphur compounds when they proliferate. By supplying beneficial probiotics to one’s mouth, Green Breath helps beneficial bacteria multiply, hinders activities of harmful bacteria, and gets rid of bacteria that cause bad breath. For the convenience of consumers, the product comes as melt-in-your-mouth tablets. Melt one tablet in your mouth like eating a lemon drop before bed.

Consumers can easily buy Green Breath online for 30,000 won(KRW) per box of 30 tablets.

Green Breath contains 2 probiotic strains, oraCMU and oraCMS. Those probiotic strains were selected among 1,640 strains isolated from the saliva of 460 Korean children with healthy mouth because they had excellent functions in safety, oral colonization, and control of harmful bacteria. In Korea, oraCMU and oraCMS are the only probiotic strains which has been clinically tested.

Poor oral hygiene and harmful bacteria are the main causes of halitosis which is originated from oral cavity.

There are more than 10 billion harmful or beneficial bacteria living in the mouth. Harmful bacteria in oral cavity react with proteins in food debris, saliva, blood, mucous membrane, and such and produce volatile sulphur compounds(VSC). Volatile sulphur compounds are mostly to blame for bad breath.

The first thing you can do to get rid of bad breath is to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing teeth properly and prevent the proliferation of harmful bacteria.

The bacteria that live near the residual food debris trapped between the teeth can cause halitosis and other oral diseases. To clean the places that a toothbrush can’t always reach, dental floss or interdental brushes shall be used.

If you breath still smells unpleasant, it would be great to supply beneficial bacteria to the mouth and inhibit the growth and activities of harmful bacteria by taking probiotics.

The colon and oral cavity are the first and second largest home to bacteria in our body respectively. There are approximately 700 species of bacteria, or 10 billion bacteria living in your mouth. These bacteria can be divided into two groups, or more specifically, ‘beneficial’ bacteria and ‘harmful bacteria’. Both groups of bacteria coexist in a balance. Poor oral hygiene and dental health habits, stress, the food that you eat, the use of mouthwash full of chemicals, misuse of antibiotics, and such are common causes of the undue increase in the number of harmful bacteria and decrease in the number of beneficial bacteria. The proliferation of harmful bacteria is the cause of halitosis and other oral diseases.

“Supplying beneficial bacteria and maintaining the balance of bacteria in the mouth by taking oral probiotics are helpful in preventing oral diseases including halitosis, dental caries, periodontitis, and such,” Kang Mi-Seon, the head of corporate research institute of OraPharm, said.

According to the findings of the clinical trial directed by Kangwon National University and OraPharm, which were published in ‘BMC Oral Health’, an international journal covered by SCI, the number of Fusobacterium nucleatum(F. nucleatum) that causes halitosis and periodontal diseases and Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) were reduced by 58.76% and 151.79% respectively in participants, who took oral probiotics, compared with the number of bacteria reduced in participants of the control group.
